Moonshot released Kimi K3.1 Pro through its API on 24 Oct and has promised downloadable weights by 4 Nov. On the new Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5 it scores 46; the highest-scoring models you can download today score 32.
If the weights arrive on time, this would be the highest-scoring model a business can run on its own hardware. Read the licence before planning on it: the terms are not yet published.

Our view
If K3.1 Pro is close in size to Kimi K3, whose Quantisation: Storing a model's numbers at lower precision (for example 4-bit) so it needs less memory. Glossary download is about 1.5 TB, it will need server-class memory to run locally. For most businesses the first question is therefore not "can we run it" but "what are the licence terms". We will update the Open-weight model tracker once the weights and licence are out.
Why it matters: It scores highly, but its weights and licence are not yet out, so read the licence before planning on it.
